The blood donation service provides for a well-balanced and undisturbed course of blood drives on site and at blood transfusion centres. By cooperating with the Slovenian Red Cross, blood drives are coordinated on an annual basis with respect to the blood requirements foreseen by the healthcare system. In cooperation with local Red Cross branches and other interest groups that organise blood drives on site or at various establishments, we plan everything that is required for successful implementation of a blood drive. We strive to perform all procedures related to blood drawing in a way that makes blood donors feel well and happy to return.
The provision of compatible and even levels of blood stocks (both as regards the quantity as well as blood group) can only be successful through coordinated activities of all stakeholders involved. Therefore, large groups of donors (over 10 people) are asked to consult with our service or the Red Cross before organising a blood drive. This way only, inventories of blood and blood components can be balanced successfully, since they not only depend on the attendance of donors at a drive, but also on the consumption of blood.
