MICROBIOLOGICAL TESTS

To identify infection markets,  we perform  microbiological tests for hepatitis A, B and C viruses, AIDS, cytomegalovirus, syphilis, toxoplasmosis agents, and some other. Laboratory tests are used to identify antibodies against viruses, bacteria, and parasites and/or their antigens (proteins that form an integral part of these pathogens). By applying molecular methods for multiplying the nucleic acids of a virus, the presence of the virus can be directly established (PCR tests).

Microbiological tests are performed for external clients (hospitals, medical centres, private doctors) and paying customers, for whom voluntary confidential or anonymous HIV testing has been organised.

These tests are also performed for the blood donors that donate their blood anywhere in Slovenia.

We  also provide 24-hour testing of deceased donors of ad organ and tissues.

In 2011, the Centre obtained a licence to carry out research in clinical and medical microbiology, which was issued by the Ministry of Health.
