Since 1990, BTC has been developing its own national information systems to support the blood transfusion service. On 14 February 1990, BTC introduced the DATEC information system to support its principal activity, which was few years later distributed to all organisations in Slovenia dealing with blood transfusion.  At the start of 1992, BTC supported the activities performed by the Red Cross in blood donation with its Kaplja ("Drop") programme and, in 1997, an information system for the needs of the Slovenian Haemophilia Society was made.
